The Voyage of the (before) Dawn Treaders

This week I've been going into work before 6am every day. I work at this time quite a bit. It's a bit of a pain in the ass getting up hours before the crack of dawn, and it means I have to go to bed early, which I'm not fussed on. I like staying up and watching movies whenever I can. But I'm always grateful of the work, and I also like seeing Belfast at this time of day.

Bedford St. 6am

There's something satisfying about seeing the city still asleep and so empty, and then later watching it wake up and seeing the streets come to life. Also interesting is seeing who else is about town so early. Usually not many people, save for a handful of other early workers and all night revellers heading home/continuing on their merry way. I always think it feels like there's an unspoken camaraderie between the few nightwalkers. Anybody up and about at that hour is probably grumpy as fuck and half asleep, myself included, but I still get a good feeling as if we're all in it together. Even the strange old man crossing the road last week who started screaming "FAT BOYS ON THE RADIO" in my face. I'm not sure what he meant, but the poor soul seemed terribly annoyed about it.

Then again, we all have our demons, don't we?
