Water feeling....

.... when it's dripping from the ceiling.

I woke up this morning at my folks' house to a phonecall from my better half saying that our flat was (to paraphrase) fucked. We'd both been away visiting family over the Christmas holidays, and were planning on heading back to our place today, she beat me to it and walked straight into what can only be described as an indoor monsoon. Now I know how all those poor families felt after being struck by the robbers in Home Alone.

Standing in the kitchen, bedroom or bathroom is truly like standing in a rainstorm, and the bedroom roof in particular is right on the verge of caving in.

I'd planned on writing a blog this morning summarising 'my' 2010, but dealing with this catastrophe rather took over. Tonight we're gonna stay at my folks' house, then from tomorrow I think we're pretty much going to have to spend a few nights staying on sofas and in spare rooms until the landlord can get us into a temporary property (which we'll likely be in for at least a month).

It's a shitty state of affairs, but rather reinforces what I'd planned on writing in this here blog anyway. 2010 had its peaks and troughs (of course it did, such is life), but I found myself surrounded throughout by the Greatest Bunch of Lads to grace God's green earth.

Not only have my oldest pals been nothing short of class as always, but I've become good pals with some utterly amazing people as well, and we've had some brilliant adventures. I hope you know who you are. If you think I might mean you, I'm sure I do.

Since I heard about the bollocks-up with the house this morning, I've already received a bunch of calls, texts, emails, etc from concerned people offering sofas and spare rooms and even one brilliant fella offering his own bed to Jemma and I. Some of the offers of places to stay have come from people that we know but don't really know all that well, and that's just an absoloutely amazing show of kindness. We'll quite likely take you up on your offers this week and if we do we'll at least bring some choccies and wine.

In short, 2010's been pretty goddamn class thanks to all you great people, and when it's been rubbish you've all helped make it much, much better. For those of you I haven't seen enough of this year, I really want to rectify that right away.

So, thank you very much indeed, you're great. I hope you had a fantastic Christmas and I hope you have a great New Year. Talking of which, if you're at Palookaville for New Year's Eve, we'll have some fun together then!

Oh and thank you as always to fabulous Jemma and my fabulous parents, for being fabulous as always. I'm off to try and put a roof over our heads.... after I have a glass of wine and listen to the Adam and Joe Christmas Special.

Sorry about the lack of teh funneh!

HR.
